چکیده

Background BMI has been reported to associate with dementia, both increased and decreased risks. The purpose of this study was examine longitudinal distinct trajectories over 15 years preceding dementia incident using the large national dataset from National Alzheimer’s Coordinating Center (NACC). Method We used NACC 2005 December 2020 performed a nested case-control (up 1 4 match). sample included 699 cases all-causes at least 5–years follow-up time diagnosis, 2120 non-dementia controls matched on age, sex, race, education baseline cognitive status. A group-based trajectory model applied identify groups among sample. Conditional logistic regression evaluate effect BMI, APOE genotype interaction between them dementia. Result For case group (n = 699), mean age enrollment 75.5 average in 16.1, participants were more female (58.8%), non-Hispanic white (86.8%) healthy status initial visit (64%). three-group linear best fit before onset that featured normal weight-decreasing (45.5%), overweight-decreasing (43.6%) obese-decreasing (10.9%). There is statistically significant decreasing trend for each (P<0.0001). 22.7, 29.9 36.7 respectively. revealed genotype. Comparing ε4 non-carriers, carriers either or likely develop [OR 1.53, 95% CI (1.00-2.34), P 0.05; OR 1.88, (1.06-3.34), 0.03]. Especially, within had triple likelihood ([OR 3.25, (2.13-4.94), P<0.0001]. Conclusion Our findings suggest existence developmental possible gene-environment exhibited highest risk

Body Mass Index (BMI) Trajectories from Birth to 11.5 Years: Relation to Early Life Food Intake

Recent research has shown that the pattern of change over time, or trajectory, of body mass index (BMI) varies among children. However, the factors that underlie the heterogeneity in these trajectories remain largely unexplored. Our aim was to use a growth mixture model to empirically identify classes of BMI trajectories (from birth to 11.5 years) and examine the effects of breastfeeding, intro...

Identification of distinct body mass index trajectories in Australian children.

WHAT IS ALREADY KNOWN ABOUT THIS SUBJECT Recent studies have identified distinct trajectories of obesity development in children, but more research is required to further explore these trajectories. Several socio-demographic variables such as parental education and obesity are associated with these trajectories. WHAT THIS STUDY ADDS This study further demonstrates that there are distinct traj...

Body Mass Index, Cognitive Ability, and Dementia Prospective Associations and Methodological Issues in Late Life

The aims of the present study were to investigate the association between overweight and cognitive ability and dementia, and to evaluate the usefulness of self-reported body mass index (BMI) in late life and various data sources commonly used in epidemiological studies to identify persons with dementia. Data were drawn from three population-based studies: the Swedish Adoption/Twin Study of Agin...

The risk of dementia with increased body mass index.

BACKGROUND identification of modifiable risk factors is crucial in the prevention of dementia, given its limited treatment options. Studies on increased body mass index (BMI) as a risk factor for dementia show conflicting results. METHODS we systematically retrieved and reviewed longitudinal population-based studies on increased BMI and dementia using a standard protocol. We searched Medline ...

Hostility and trajectories of body mass index over 19 years: the Whitehall II Study

The authors examined the associations of hostility measured in adulthood with subsequent BMI assessed at four time points over a 19-year period in a United-Kingdom cohort study. A total of 6,484 participants (4,494 men and 1,990 women) aged 35 55 years at – baseline (1985 1988) completed the Cook-Medley-hostility-scale for hostility. BMI (kg/m ) was assessed at medical examination at – 2 phases...
